Akhmal Receives Bumiputera Entrepreneurial Grant

KUCHING: Akhmal Buanie from Sri Aman won a Skim Usahawan Permulaan Bumiputera (Superb) grant in the fourth series of the competition.

and resource planning development assistant minister revealed this in a press release after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced the winners in Kuala Lumpur recently.

Akhmal was one of 26 winners of Superb grants in the third and fourth phases that won a total of RM13 million – each winner taking RM500,000.

“I congratulate Ahkmal Buanie, the only winner from Sarawak. I hope there will be more Superb winners from Sarawak,” Naroden said.

The fifth series this year is open for registration since last Feb 2. There will be four rounds of registration, the dates to be announced.

Superb is a government initiative for Bumiputera youths with potential and ideas to develop small businesses into big companies.

Among the criteria for the application are Bumiputera aged 18 to 40 or companies with 60 per cent Bumiputra management operating for at least three years.

“I urge Sarawak Bumiputera youths to grab this golden oppportunity to strengthen their economy,” he said.

In 2013, a total RM27 million in Superb grants was won by 54 winners out of 3,970 applicants.
